You can always count on a tech press that seems more and more to hate tech to focus solely on the negative.

There's definitely that, but also just the mundane temptation to optimize for clicks/views at all costs which all of us in independent media have to fight.

Just noting the trend I see, particularly at 9to5Mac, of writing either explicitly critical takes or ending articles with snide little remarks that just feel unnecessary. The authors there have changed a lot recently so that’s probably a part of it. And, yes, there’s the clickbait “What MIGHT be” articles too. Not to mention the monster sites like The Verge that actively writes more about how bad things are than anything positive. Remember how they gave a Windows laptop that got something like 3 hours of battery the same score as the MacBooks that get 17-20? Because Apple isn’t pro-union and wants people to return to work in-person, they are the devil and must be destroyed.

Sorry to ramble. Lots on my mind. Most of it frustrating.

Ha! You're fine. One of the things I see at big media outlets is that too many of them seem to see snark as a good personality trait.
